6 Questions Worth Asking Yourself

I’ve been giving these questions a significant amount of thought lately and thought I’d share. Would love to hear what compelling questions you ask yourself.

What do you LOVE?

  1. What do I LOVE to do?
  2. What do I do best?
  3. How can I help others in a way no one else can?*
  4. What do I want to change about the world?
  5. If there were no restrictions, no rules, no “naysayers” who would I be, how would I act, and what would I do?
  6. If I could live the paradox of treating every day as if it could be my last while simultaneously approaching every day as the first day of the rest of my life, what would that look like?

Tons of ideas lately–much more to come soon!

*Question taken from a great book I just finished today:ย The Art of Nonconformity

  • What do I LOVE to do?
I love writing poetry, I love writing in general. Recently found love is taking photos and I am also an art enthusiast. I also love learning new things..

    What do I do best?
Listen to my friends and be there for them.

How can I help others in a way no one else can?*
I try my best to make them smile even if they are in the worst stage of their life.

What do I want to change about the world?
Many things – firstly, color discrimination and wrecked sexist mentality

If there were no restrictions, no rules, no โ€œnaysayersโ€ who would I be, how would I act, and what would I do?
I would probably be travelling around the world like a gypsy or gone into professional in line skating.

If I could live the paradox of treating every day as if it could be my last while simultaneously approaching every day as the first day of the rest of my life, what would that look like?
Full of panic. I get nervous easily

Hi Ashley! Thanks so much for your awesome response and answers to all these questions! I think it’s great that you can so easily have the answers. My best friend wrote me this morning in reply to the post, “So, what are your answers?” Some of the answers I have, and some of them, I’m still thinking about, but it’s great to read yours–are you a full-time writer?

  • Incredible questions–especially when I look at the relationship between the first two. Thanks for sharing these. Can’t wait for more of your thoughts.
    Hugs,
    Kathy

Great questions! I’ll have to give some consideration to these and see what I come up with! I think my “off the cuff” answers would not be the ones I would end with, so need some soak time. Thanks for the challenge! ~ Sheila

    • Jacqueline says:

Thanks Sheila! I look forward to hearing what you come up with. I’m also giving myself time to really internalize and think about these questions, especially numbers 3 and 6.

What do I LOVE to do?

    > Making obscure references. ๐Ÿ™‚
    AND drawing.
    AND writing.
    AND singing. ^^

    What do I do best?

    > Listen to people.

How can I help others in a way no one else can?

    > Like I say, I like to listen. ๐Ÿ™‚

What do I want to change about the world?

    > A great, great many things. But I am following the Gandhi quote: “Be the change you want to see.”

If there were no restrictions, no rules, no โ€œnaysayersโ€ who would I be, how would I act, and what would I do?

    > I would be less ‘straight’ in public. ๐Ÿ˜€

If I could live the paradox of treating every day as if it could be my last while simultaneously approaching every day as the first day of the rest of my life, what would that look like?

    > What an amazing question! Well I would definitely start by being myself more. Then I would give up my preoccupations and focus on the art and love that I want to create and inspire in others.

But what’s stopping me, hey? ๐Ÿ™‚ I feel inspired.

    • Jacqueline says:

Great answers! Especially the “making obscure references.” So glad to hear that you feel inspired–I’ve really enjoyed reading about your adventures and experiences in Japan.

  • Great questions to get us thinking. So many times in life, we sweat the small stuff, and forget what is really important. These questions help put things in perspective.

  • Rufina says:

I think I will bring these with me on vacation…and give myself the time to come up with my own truths to answer. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • that is a great book! and those are great questions to periodically come back to to ensure we’re doing what’s right for us. thanks!

I think this is actually my favourite post of all time. I write these questions and answers on a weekly basis! At the moment I’m switching between so many life decisions – try and get sponsored to live in Australia / go and work in Spain after I finish travelling in January / live in London to be near my friends / go and be an artist in Cornwall. Etc.

    • Jacqueline says:

Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it! I’ve been mulling over these questions myself. It sounds like all your choices are wonderful ones. Can’t wait to hear what your answers to these questions brings for your life! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Bianca says:

One question I’d add to my personal list is, ‘Is my life interesting?’ It’s the filter that I put all of my big decisions through. I don’t want to have a boring life.
