2012 was a year of transformation. Globally, the world witnessed continued changes in the Middle East, the 30th Olympics Games were held in London, and Burma opened its doors.
It was also a year of transformation for the blog. With the help of several wonderful Kickstarter backers, the first season of 6 Months to Live made its debut! The blog got a completely new look, new logo, and new format. Finally, it was a year of personal change. After much thought and deliberation, I decided that it was time for a much-needed change. I left San Francisco after 3 years and started my round-the-world adventure!
I took sailing lessons in the Bay Area throughout September, got as much time on a sailboat as possible, and was fortunate enough to receive an invitation to help crew for an outstanding captain in Mexico. I spent a month on Distraction, a beautiful 30ft Olson 911, with Captain Don and fellow crew member and friend, Kyle. It was by far, one of the best experiences of my life (more posts to come!).
In 4 days, I will leave for my next adventure, starting in Panama. From there, I will be exploring Central and South America and over the next several months, Africa and the Himalayas (if you’ve been to any of these places, would love your tips)!
I’m not sure of all the people I will meet or all the places I will go. There are numerous unknowns, and the side of me that loves “to do” lists and plans is strangely accepting of the mystery of this journey and to the endless opportunities that come with an open heart.
I hope you will continue to join me, as I do what makes me truly come alive. I’ve said goodbye to the soul-crushing feeling of living a life that was not for me, and I’m saying YES to delicious ambiguity and all the beauty the universe has to offer each of us when we are true to who we are.
My wish for each and everyone of you reading is that you can be who you truly are and live a life you LOVE!
Bon voyage
Thanks Audrey! 🙂
This is going to be an incredible trip!! Where in Africa?! (favorite place EVER) If you need advice, head to my blog. PS go to Zimbabwe <3
The Himalayas! How great! Are you climbing to base camp?
Yes! Will definitely be referencing your blog and asking you for tips on Africa! Did you travel there solo or did you go with a group? My main goal in Africa is to volunteer on an elephant refuge, and I would love to go on a safari. As far as exactly where I’ll end up in Africa, depends on where the refuge is, cost, etc. I’ll definitely keep Zimbabwe in mind! And no plans to climb base camp (yet). 😉 I plan on spending time exploring Bhutan & Nepal. Have you been there? Want to join?
Congratulations Jacqueline. Love the site. Let me know when you are visiting South America. If I’m in Quito, we will take you around exploring!
delicious ambiguity! Brilliant. Love that whole quote. Your trip is going to be amazing!
