One of my biggest inspirations in life is my grandfather. He is an painter, poet, architect, father of 4, grandfather of 9, married to the same awesome woman for 53 years (and still going strong-knock on the wood:)) and just a curious energy ball:) He always says “I was born too early..” but it didnt stop him to learn how to use computer (and programs even engineers have a hard time learning like
AutoCad from its user manuals!!), get an iPhone to do ‘FaceTime’ with his grandchildren, open 2 exhibitions, write a book, overcome 2 heart attacks, and all is done after the age of 70! He has such an energy and love for life, learning, improving everyday. He is not an ordinary retiree and I am so lucky to have him. #6mcontest #LiveInspired
This is great, Burcin! Your grandfather seems like a man who has truly lived! Love the photo you posted on Facebook! 🙂 http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10101175585853330&set=a.689187665240.2389983.924279&type=1&theater
The origin of the word “inspire” is “to breathe.” When I am really breathing, I am in the moment full of life; the heaviness of day-to-day life melts away. I am in a place of inspiration. I “look up” and see the world around me and get inspired by it. I’m in the flow. This image captures that feeling of breath, life, and connection. http://nourishandpreserve.wordpress.com/2012/11/12/month-challenge-im-grateful-for-november/
This is awesome, Martine! Love it!
What inspires me each day is people. From my close family and friends to the people I meet traveling around the globe, there is always so much to learn and love about everyone. My picture is of the mayhem of Shibuya Crossing, which I took on a recent trip to Tokyo, Japan. It reminds me of the beauty and excitement of all the world’s people, places, cultures and adventures!

I chose this photo because it makes me remember that you can connect with a place through its living things and make friends in the most unexpected places. I hopped off my bike and appreciated the closeness to this majestic horse while on an island off the coast of Ireland.
Love it, Allison!
My entry is a photo of my car. It’s funny how we often attach meaning to things, and to me the car represents freedom. While browsing through my photos I saw how many extraordinary places I’ve been with this quite ordinary car. Like Yosemite park in the picture. I found it pretty inspirational that the very car that I’ll drive to work tomorrow has taken me on so many adventures, and hopefully many more!

This is great, Yongrim! I feel the same way about my bike, Luna. She has taken me on some amazing journeys around SF, and I look forward to many more as well. Thanks for submitting!
I took this picture of the Mississippi in one of my favorite places in the world: the City of New Orleans. I grew up in another city situated on the bluffs of the Mighty Mississippi, and I cannot ever see this river without thinking of my family, my Southern heritage, but also the now strained relationship that exists between man and nature. We have been fighting the natural movement of the Mississippi River in South Louisiana for years, trying to control it to save the city of New Orleans from being flooded, but who will win in the end? Man or Nature? https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=634474540797&set=a.634472739407.2186876.2603990&type=3&theater
Beautiful entry, Bennett! And very important food for thought. Thanks for entering!
Great arectli, thank you again for writing.
Nature’s majesty as seen in this photo of a blackbird resting in Bryce Canyon. (Sent you an email with the photo)
Great entry, Michael! Thanks for entering!
My dog Jerry Lee is my inspiration. Sounds silly, but when you think about it, he lives like we all should. Fiercely loyal and full of unconditional love. He doesn’t worry about the silly stuff humans do, just that he has a place to lay his head, food in his stomach and someone that loves him. He doesn’t care if he is wearing the latest in doggie wear or his dog bed is stylish. As a German Shepherd at 11 y.o., he is in his waning years, but he still runs and plays like a puppy. While I’ve seen him sad when he lost his daddy (my brother) most every day, joy absolutely exudes out of this dog, seemingly grateful for one more day on this glorious earth. I aspire to be as happy as Jerry someday, but truthfully, even having half of his joy would make me one of the happiest humans on the planet!
This is great, Catherine! Is there a link to your photo?
Travel inspires me. I’ve always said I’d love to travel and finally put my money where my mouth is when I set out on an epic, life changing journey to visit all 50 states while dining at every all-vegan restaurant in the US. I’ve now been living out of a van and entirely off of donation for more than a year now and this experience has completely changed my life. Travel inspires me to reflect within, to learn from others, to be open to meeting strangers, and to work on becoming a better person everyday. http://instagram.com/p/QLR4RYjmYi/ <– I took this photo this photo about two months ago while driving along Route 16A through Wyoming. It was one of the most beautiful landscapes I've ever seen in my life. I pulled off at this spot because the view was unbelievable and I also thought my trusty van, Gerty was about to overheat. Thankfully we made it to our destination without a hitch, sweaty palms and all. 🙂
I absolutely love what you’re doing, Kristin! So inspired by your journey! Thanks so much for your photo and for entering. 🙂

I’m inspired everyday by nature, being in the outdoors, travel, adventure, working out and people. That’s a lot to be inspired by but they all go hand in hand. I also think it’s impotent to be constantly inspired. I choose this picture because it includes my whole list and was truly inspiring. I traveled to Moab with a group of friends for some trail running and Mt biking adventure. While trail running we can upon this arch which people were swinging off of. The whole trip gave me this high of “this is what life is about!”
Great photo! Thanks so much for submitting, Andrea!
Travel always inspires me, but my recent trip to Egypt left me feeling inspired in a whole new way. When I arrived at the pyramids in Giza, I was absolutely blown away by how massive they were. The fact that they were built so long ago, without modern technology, and are still standing, if proof that nothing in this world is impossible.

Love it, Erin!
I choose this pic because I’m often debating on what my favorite color is. Sometimes I’ll lean on one color more than others for a while, but it will always change. My life is like a Rainbow. Life is not just black and white. It’s purple and pink and orange and red and blue! Life has many colors. There’s more than one way to live it. You can mix and match or you can stay one color. The choice is yours. pic.twitter.com/ic3qK8Wo
I like it! Reminds me of that quote I often see on Facebook. “Be bold or italic. Never regular.” Thanks for entering, Priya! I’ll do a random drawing after I’ve done some writing for #NaNoWriMo later tonight and will announce the winners tomorrow on my Facebook page. 🙂
This photo inspires me as it combines three of my life’s greatest features. Firstly, food of the Occident–French baguettes, cake, and crepes (let’s be honest, I organize my day around what I will eat). Furthermore, it features two of my bright-eyed Honors students who fill live with hope and joy–they are the future and contrary to popular belief, with more like them, we are in good hands in our old age. Lastly, this was taken in my class– reading, expressing, and interacting with the life in literature is what I am paid to do. What a blessing! #6mcontest #LiveInspired
